Fri Dec 06 22:09:32 UTC 2024: ## Cash Found in Rajya Sabha Seat Sparks Political Row

**New Delhi, Dec 6, 2024** – The discovery of a wad of cash in a Rajya Sabha seat assigned to Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi has ignited a political firestorm, with the Congress accusing the BJP of a diversionary tactic to avoid parliamentary debates on crucial issues.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar announced the finding, stating that security officials discovered the cash after yesterday’s adjournment. Singhvi vehemently denied any knowledge of the cash, citing his brief presence in the chamber. He, along with the Congress party, has called for an investigation into the matter.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh claimed the incident is a BJP ploy to distract from pressing issues such as the farmers’ plight and the alleged “Modi-Adani scandal.” He accused the BJP of deliberately disrupting parliamentary proceedings to avoid discussion. While Ramesh agreed with Union Minister JP Nadda’s call for an investigation, he insisted the incident is a distraction.

BJP leaders, however, have seized on the opportunity, demanding a thorough investigation. Union Minister JP Nadda echoed the call for a transparent investigation, stating that the truth will ultimately prevail. Other BJP members have questioned why the Congress is seemingly resistant to a full inquiry.

Singhvi has also supported a probe, stating that the incident raises concerns about security within Parliament. Congress sources suggested the incident is an attempt to shift focus away from the ongoing Adani controversy. The party has requested the Rajya Sabha Chairman to either conduct an independent investigation or establish a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to examine the matter. The incident has further escalated tensions within Parliament, leaving the political fallout uncertain.
