**Kunnamkulam:** The first day of the Kunnamkulam school arts festival was marred by significant delays, with events starting between one and three hours behind schedule. Participants and organizers alike voiced their frustration at the lack of timely commencement, with some venues failing to begin until well past the scheduled 9 AM start time.
While the Town Hall, hosting higher secondary-level mime and drama competitions, eventually caught up and finished by 6:30 PM, other venues faced similar issues. The Bethani venue, hosting Mappila art and song competitions, experienced delays of up to three hours. Similarly, the Chirayil H.C.C.G. U.P. School, hosting group dance performances, began three and a half hours late. Heavy afternoon rain further compounded the problems.
Although a cluster system was implemented to prevent delays, it proved ineffective on the first day. Organizers are expected to address the logistical issues to ensure smoother proceedings in the following days. The delays sparked widespread concern and disappointment among participants and attendees.
