**Kunnamkulam:** The 117.5-gram gold trophy awarded at the Kalotsavam (school arts festival) arrived in Kunnamkulam amidst dramatic weather conditions. Initially, a planned celebratory procession was cancelled on Monday night due to rain. The trophy, kept at the district treasury, was transferred to the Education Sub-Director A.K. Ajithakumari by Collector Arjun Pandyana in the morning.
Several dignitaries, including former MP T.N. Prathapan, Trophy Committee Chairman K.K. Murali, and Convener M.K. Athikk Beevi, attended a ceremony at the Government Model Boys School where MLA N.K. Akbar, Municipal Chairperson Seetha Raveendran, and A.E.O.A. Moytheen received the trophy. A downpour began shortly after the ceremony, lasting about an hour.
Due to school holidays and inclement weather, fewer welcome events were organized, with receptions held only at Peramangalam Sree Durga Vilasam HSS and Bethany St. John’s HSS. The trophy, after being displayed at the school auditorium, was moved to Kunnamkulam Sub-Treasury. It will be presented to the winning sub-district team at the Town Hall on Saturday, the festival’s concluding day.
