Wed Dec 04 21:22:20 UTC 2024: ## Honda Amaze 2024: Premium Price Tag for New Subcompact Sedan
**NEW DELHI, Dec 4, 2024** – Honda launched its new generation Amaze subcompact sedan today, boasting a redesigned look, enhanced features, and improved safety. However, the vehicle’s higher price point compared to its rivals – the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor – is likely to be a key factor in its market performance.
The Amaze starts at ₹8 lakh, significantly higher than the Aura (₹6.5 lakh) and Tigor (₹6 lakh), and ₹1.2 lakh more expensive than the entry-level Dzire. This price difference extends to the top-end models, with the Amaze commanding a premium of up to ₹90,000 over its competitors.
While the Amaze’s higher price tag buys features like an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) not found in the Dzire, competitors offer compelling value propositions. For instance, the Hyundai Aura SX, priced similarly to the Amaze V, includes automatic climate control, cruise control, and wireless phone charging—features absent in the Amaze V. The top-spec Dzire offers a larger touchscreen and sunroof, although it lacks the Amaze’s ADAS.
Engine options vary across the models. The Amaze features a 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine (90 PS, 110 Nm), while competitors offer both petrol and CNG variants with varying engine specifications and transmissions. The Aura and Tigor offer dual-cylinder CNG technology, maximizing boot space. The Amaze is only available in petrol.
The price disparity continues in the automatic transmission segment. The Amaze, with its CVT gearbox, is the most expensive, starting at ₹9.20 lakh, significantly higher than its AMT-equipped rivals. Its top-spec automatic variant reaches ₹10.90 lakh, the highest price point among the four sedans.
Despite its premium pricing, Honda is betting on its new Amaze’s improved safety and features to attract buyers in the competitive subcompact sedan market.
