**Kollam, Kerala –** A tragic bus accident near Aryankavu in Kollam, Kerala, claimed the life of one pilgrim and injured at least 20 others early Wednesday morning. The bus, carrying Sabarimala pilgrims returning to Tamil Nadu, collided head-on with a lorry at approximately 3:45 a.m. near the Aryankavu checkpost. The impact sent the bus overturning into a gorge.

The deceased has been identified as Dhanapal from Salem, Tamil Nadu. Three of the injured, currently admitted to Punalur Taluk Hospital, are reported to be in critical condition. The bus was carrying passengers of all ages, including children and the elderly.

Local residents and officials have highlighted the accident-prone nature of the area, citing a history of similar incidents. Police, along with other emergency services and local residents, immediately launched rescue operations following the crash. The lorry involved in the collision was carrying metal from Kerala.
