Tue Dec 03 05:05:39 UTC 2024: ## Bollywood Actress’ Sister Charged with Murder in Deadly Queens Fire

**NEW YORK, NY** – Aliya Fakhri, sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal fire in Jamaica, Queens that killed two people. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the charges against Fakhri, 43, following a grand jury indictment on November 27th.

The victims, identified as 35-year-old Edward Jacobs and 33-year-old Anastasia Ettienne, perished from smoke inhalation and burns after a fire engulfed Jacobs’ home on November 2nd. Authorities allege Fakhri intentionally set fire to a detached garage near the home’s entrance, trapping the victims inside. Witnesses reported hearing Fakhri shouting, “You’re all going to die today,” before the fire started. Ettienne attempted to rescue Jacobs, who was asleep, but both were overcome by the flames.

Jacobs, a plumber and father of three, had ended his relationship with Fakhri approximately a year prior, but she allegedly continued to pursue him. His mother confirmed to the New York Post that Jacobs and Ettienne were friends, not romantically involved. Fakhri’s mother has denied her involvement, claiming her daughter is a caring person incapable of such a crime.

Fakhri faces four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and one count each of first and second-degree arson. A conviction on the most serious charges could result in a life sentence. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 9th.
