**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh:** Heavy rainfall triggered by Cyclone FENGAL has inundated low-lying areas and caused significant flooding in several parts of Andhra Pradesh. Rivers and streams are overflowing in numerous locations. The state government has issued an alert as more rain is expected.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu convened a high-level meeting at his Undavalli residence to review relief and rescue operations. The meeting was attended by the state’s chief secretary, Neerab Kumar Prasad, and other senior officials. Authorities reported that 53 mandals have been affected by the cyclone. Relief camps have been set up in severely affected areas to relocate residents.
Preliminary assessments indicate that 6,824 hectares of agricultural crops have been damaged. The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the enumeration process to assess the full extent of the damage and ensure that affected farmers receive compensation. He also instructed officials to facilitate the purchase of rain-damaged paddy to prevent losses for farmers. Mr. Naidu urged officials to remain vigilant until the impact of the cyclone subsides completely.
