Mon Dec 02 04:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Wembanyama’s Triple-Double Leads Spurs to Thrilling Victory Over Kings

**SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP)** — Victor Wembanyama delivered a spectacular performance, recording his first career triple-double with 34 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 127-125 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. The win marks the Spurs’ fifth victory in their last six games.

The Kings, who led by as many as 17 points in the first quarter and held a 65-58 halftime advantage, ultimately fell victim to a strong Spurs comeback fueled by a franchise-record 23 three-pointers (23-of-46). Dejounte Murray’s absence was felt, with the Kings struggling defensively after surrendering a season-high 42 points in the first quarter to Sacramento.

Despite DeMar DeRozan’s 28-point effort for the Kings, Wembanyama’s dominance, particularly his 13 fourth-quarter points, proved decisive. A crucial three-pointer by Chris Paul (13 points) with 20 seconds left, followed by clutch free throws, sealed the win for the Spurs. Devin Vassell added 21 points off the bench for San Antonio. Domantas Sabonis’s buzzer-beating three-pointer only managed to slightly reduce the final margin.

The victory comes at a crucial juncture for both teams. The Spurs head to Phoenix on Tuesday, while the Kings, who have now lost six of their last seven games, face a slump, dropping them to a season-low three games below .500 and hosting Houston. Their next game will be a significant test of their ability to recover their form.
