**Addis Ababa, Ethiopia –** The United Arab Emirates (UAE) celebrated its 53rd Union Day with a reception in Addis Ababa on November 29th, 2024, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the UAE and Ethiopia. The event, hosted by UAE Ambassador Mohammed Salem Al Rashedi at the Sheraton Hotel, was attended by high-ranking Ethiopian government officials, including State Minister of Foreign Affairs Mesganu Arga, as well as representatives from the African Union, diplomatic corps, and business leaders.
Ambassador Al Rashedi’s speech emphasized the UAE’s remarkable progress since its formation in 1971 and highlighted key areas of cooperation with Ethiopia, including political, economic, and cultural exchanges. State Minister Arga echoed these sentiments, praising the strong historical ties between the two nations and expressing gratitude for the UAE’s significant development support, totaling USD three billion. He described the UAE as a key development partner for Ethiopia, playing a crucial role in socio-economic and digital advancements. He further emphasized the recent establishment of a bilateral framework for expanding economic cooperation as a pivotal step forward.
