**Bhubaneswar, Odisha:** A four-year-old girl has been rescued by Odisha Police after being sold by her parents for Rs 40,000. The shocking incident unfolded in Bhubaneswar’s Badagada area, leading to the arrest of six individuals, including the girl’s parents and two intermediaries.
Police reports indicate that the parents, a Bihar-based couple working as daily laborers, sold their daughter to a childless couple in Pipili due to financial difficulties. The Badagada Police Station in-charge, Trupti Ranjan Nayak, confirmed the arrests and stated that the child has been safely recovered.
The investigation was launched following a tip-off. The parents have confessed to the crime and implicated two local individuals who allegedly facilitated the illegal transaction. All six arrested individuals are currently under interrogation, and further investigations are underway.
