NEW YORK – Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs remains in federal custody after a judge denied his third bail attempt. Combs, arrested in September on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, had offered $50 million in bail, secured by his Miami Beach mansion. However, prosecutors argued that his wealth could create a two-tiered justice system and that his release would endanger victims and witnesses.
The judge cited concerns over Combs’ alleged attempts to intimidate witnesses and victims from behind bars, including evidence from his jail cell notes that were deemed inadmissible due to attorney-client privilege. Prosecutors presented evidence of a history of obstruction of justice, violence against staff and partners, and witness intimidation. Court documents detail allegations of threats, physical assault, and abuse by Combs. More than 100 individuals are now reportedly represented by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee, pursuing legal action against the rapper.
Combs vehemently denies all allegations. His case gained further attention following a leaked video appearing to show him assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who filed and later settled a sexual abuse lawsuit against him.
Despite the significant bail offer and arguments from his defense team, the judge ruled that Combs poses a flight risk and a danger to the community. His trial is scheduled for May 5, 2025. The ongoing investigation is significant, and the case highlights serious allegations of abuse and obstruction of justice. Jennifer Lopez, recently promoting her film “Unstoppable,” declined to comment on the matter when approached by reporters.
