**Mumbai, India** – A special episode of the popular Indian quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati 16” (KBC 16) paid tribute to the brave heroes who confronted the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Host Amitabh Bachchan offered prayers for the innocent victims who lost their lives in the attacks.
The episode featured frontline warriors Vishwas Nangare Patil, Additional Director General of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Maharashtra, and Sanjay Govilkar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Mumbai.
Patil, who served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Zone-1 in South Mumbai during the attacks, began the episode by reciting a poignant poem, “Main Khaki Hoon” (I am Khaki). He shared harrowing stories of the innocent lives lost that fateful night. Bachchan expressed his profound respect for their courage and sacrifice.
Patil recounted the events of the night, describing the moment he received a call about the attacks at Leopold Cafe and the Taj Hotel, where he heard sounds of grenade explosions and AK-47 gunfire. He described the chaos and the realization that it was a full-scale terrorist attack, detailing how the terrorists breached a glass gate at the Taj Hotel despite suggestions to replace it with a stronger security measure. He also recalled the tragic loss of his team members.
Govilkar described the heart-wrenching scene of a mother protecting her three-year-old child in a bathtub during the attack, a scene that continues to haunt him.
Bachchan expressed deep sorrow and shock upon hearing their accounts, expressing amazement at their bravery in the face of such horrific violence. The episode served as a moving tribute to the victims and the courage displayed by the police officers who fought to protect the city during the 26/11 attacks.
