**Chennai, India** – Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its first two “Born Electric” SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e, marking a significant step into the Indian electric vehicle market. The launch event, held at Mahindra Research Valley near Chennai, also saw the debut of the INGLO platform, Mahindra’s in-house developed modular skateboard EV architecture underpinning both vehicles.

The BE 6e and XEV 9e boast striking designs, with the BE 6e featuring a sharp, edgy aesthetic and the XEV 9e sporting a sleek coupe-like profile. Both SUVs are packed with features, including a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, multiple drive modes (Range, Everyday, and Race), auto parking assist, a 5-camera security system, and Level 2 ADAS.

Powering both models is a compact three-in-one powertrain offering 210 kW (282 bhp) and 380 Nm of peak torque with the 79 kWh battery (231 bhp with the smaller 59 kWh unit). The 79 kWh LFP battery provides a claimed range of up to 656 km (MIDC) for the XEV 9e and 682 km for the BE 6e, with WLTP ranges of 533 km and 550 km respectively. The battery supports 175 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 20-80% charge in approximately 20 minutes, and comes with a lifetime warranty. Mahindra claims both vehicles will achieve a 5-star safety rating, though official crash test results are pending.

The XEV 9e will have an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 21.79 lakh, while the BE 6e starts at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Indicative on-road prices in Chennai are approximately Rs 23.59 lakh and Rs 21.90 lakh, respectively. Deliveries are slated to begin in a phased manner from the end of January 2025, with vehicles reaching dealerships by February/March 2025. The full price list will be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025.

Mahindra also unveiled MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture), its new software platform offering features like advanced driver-assistance systems, HD streaming, and enhanced in-cabin experiences. The company also introduced a new infinite logo, exclusive to its electric vehicle lineup. The INGLO platform, co-developed with Volkswagen, is designed to support various drivetrain configurations.
