**Wayanad, Kerala –** Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has secured a resounding victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, winning by a massive margin of over 96,000 votes. The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of her brother, Rahul Gandhi, who vacated the seat to contest from Raebareli.
This marks Ms. Gandhi’s electoral debut, and her triumph is considered a significant boost for the Congress party in the state. With over 1.4 lakh votes tallied, she comfortably outpaced her nearest rival, veteran CPI candidate Sathyan Mokeri, who garnered approximately 47,000 votes. BJP candidate Navya Haridas trailed significantly with around 27,000 votes. The high voter turnout and the substantial margin of victory underscore the strong support for Ms. Gandhi in Wayanad.
