Sat Nov 23 09:37:07 UTC 2024: **BJP Wins Five of Seven Rajasthan By-Elections**
Jaipur, Rajasthan – The results of the seven Rajasthan by-elections are in, with the BJP securing a significant victory by winning five out of the seven seats. The BJP’s wins include the constituencies of Jhunjhunu, Khivsar, Deoli-Uniyara, Salumber, and Ramgarh. The Bharatiya Adiwasi Party (BAP) secured one seat (Chourasi), while the Congress retained only one seat, Dosa, where Din Dayal Bairawa emerged victorious.
Notable results include BJP’s Revantram Danga defeating Hanuman Beniwal’s wife, Kanika Beniwal, in Khivsar by over 13,000 votes. In Salumber, BJP’s Shanta Mina secured a last-minute victory over the BAP candidate. In Dosa, Congress’s win was particularly noteworthy as it involved the defeat of Agriculture Minister Kirodilal Meena’s brother, Jagmohan Meena.
The by-elections were necessitated by five sitting MLAs becoming MPs and two due to the demise of sitting legislators. Before the elections, the BJP held one seat, the Congress four, and the RLP (Hanuman Beniwal’s party) one. The BAP’s win marks a significant presence in the state’s political landscape.
