**London/Miami –** Luxury car manufacturer Jaguar has launched a dramatic rebranding campaign as it prepares for its relaunch as an all-electric brand. The Tata Motors-owned company unveiled a new logo – stylized as “JaGUar” – a redesigned leaping cat emblem, and a fresh marketing strategy centered around slogans such as “delete ordinary,” “live vivid,” and “copy nothing.”
The rebranding, described by Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover as the “biggest step change in the company’s history,” emphasizes a sophisticated pronunciation of “Jaguar” (“Jag-you-are”) and features a visually harmonious blend of uppercase and lowercase lettering in the new logo. The iconic leaping cat, a fixture on Jaguar vehicles for decades, is reportedly being replaced by the new badge.
Jaguar, which ceased new car sales over a year ago to focus on its reinvention, plans to introduce three new electric vehicles by 2026. Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern stated that the rebranding aims to “recapture the essence of Jaguar” and make it relevant to a modern audience.
The full reveal of the new branding on its vehicles is slated for a Miami Art Week event on December 2nd. However, the initial social media response has been mixed. Some users questioned the absence of cars in the initial promotional materials, while others criticized the rebranding effort, prompting responses from Jaguar emphasizing its commitment to a new beginning and its electric vehicle future. Even Tesla CEO Elon Musk chimed in, expressing confusion and prompting an invitation to a Miami event for clarification. Whether this bold rebranding will resonate with consumers and revitalize the iconic brand remains to be seen.
