**New Delhi, November 15, 2024:** Banks across several states will remain closed on Friday, November 15th, 2024, in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti/Kartik Purnima. This information is according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday list, published on its website.

The states affected by this closure include: Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Hyderabad-Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar.

Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav, commemorates the birth of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak. It is observed on the full moon day of the Kartik month, which usually falls in October or November.

Apart from Guru Nanak Jayanti, banks will also be closed in some states for other festivals:

* **Karnataka:** Closed for Kanakadas Jayanti
* **Meghalaya:** Closed for Seng Kut Snem
* **Various states:** Closed for festivals like Diwali Amavasya (Lakshmi Pujan), Kut Utsav, Kannada Rajyotsava, Bali Padami, Vikram Samvat Nav Varsha Divas, Chhath (Evening Arghya), Chhath (Morning Arghya)/Bangla Utsav, Egas-Bagwal, and other regional festivals.

This closure is in addition to the regular bank holidays on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
