**New Delhi:** The capital city of Delhi will be illuminated with a grand “Deepotsav” celebration on the evening of November 13th, marking the first time this event will be held in the city. The celebration, organized by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), will precede Dev Deepawali, Guru Parv, and the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda.
The event will take place at the newly renovated Vasudev Ghat, located near Kashmiri Gate ISBT. The renovated ghat, which will be formally inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena in March 2024, signifies his commitment to the rejuvenation of the Yamuna River and its floodplains. The aim is to reconnect city residents with the river and encourage their involvement in its cleanup efforts.
The Deepotsav promises to be a spectacular event with around 350,000 diyas being lit during the ceremony. Ordinary citizens, students, and artists from various fields will participate in the celebrations, which will also feature captivating drone and laser shows. A magnificent Ram Darbar will be held at the “Baradari” at Vasudev Ghat, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage with sculptures and antiques from various states.
The laser show will display Lord Ram’s tableau, while the drone show will shower the audience with flowers and garlands. The event will begin at 6 PM and continue until 7:30 or 8 PM, concluding with the distribution of prasad.
However, due to security concerns and crowd management, public participation in the Deepotsav will be restricted through invitation cards only.
The event highlights the intersection of spirituality and environmental sustainability, emphasizing the importance of river rejuvenation. It is expected to be a truly memorable spectacle for all who attend.
