**Dehradun, Uttarakhand:** A tragic car accident in Dehradun early Tuesday morning has claimed the lives of six college students, with a seventh critically injured. The incident has sparked outrage and concerns after a video emerged showing the students partying and allegedly consuming alcohol shortly before the crash.
The fatal collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. at ONGC Chowk when the students’ Innova car rear-ended a truck. The impact was so severe that the car was reduced to a mangled wreck, and some occupants were reportedly decapitated. Six students died at the scene, identified as Kunal Kukreja (23), Atul Agrawal (24), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goel (23), Kamakshi (20), and Guneet (19). The seventh passenger, Siddhesh Agrawal (25), remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
A video obtained by India Today TV shows the group of young men and women partying earlier that evening, consuming what appears to be alcoholic beverages. While police have not confirmed if the students were intoxicated, the video has fueled speculation about alcohol’s role in the crash. Autopsies are pending to determine if alcohol was a contributing factor.
CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows the students’ car traveling at excessive speeds. Police are investigating if a BMW was racing the Innova prior to the collision.
The crash has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing grief and outrage. Vipin Agrawal, father of the injured Siddhesh, pleaded for privacy and empathy for the grieving families. “Six families have lost their children,” he said, “Please do not spread fake news and rumors.”
The authorities have launched an investigation into the accident, examining CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the cause. While officials have not confirmed the driver’s condition, the video and eyewitness accounts have intensified scrutiny over potential negligence and alcohol involvement.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and offered condolences to the bereaved families. The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of responsible behavior, especially after consuming alcohol.
