Fri Nov 15 07:14:38 UTC 2024: ## NASA Astronaut Sunita Williams Remains Calm Despite 159 Days in Space

**Houston, Texas** – NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, currently stranded aboard the International Space Station, has assured the public that she is in good health despite her prolonged stay in space. Williams, who holds records for the most spacewalks and time spent in space by a woman, has been in orbit for over 159 days due to continued delays with the Boeing Starliner spacecraft.

Concerns arose recently when Williams appeared visibly gaunt in a televised interview. Some speculated that she might be experiencing health problems due to a caloric deficit. However, Williams dismissed those fears, explaining that her altered appearance is simply a result of the unique physics of microgravity.

“Things shift around quite a bit in space,” Williams explained from low Earth orbit. “You’ve probably heard of fluid shifts. Folks in space, their heads look a little bit bigger because the fluid evens out along the body. My thighs are a little bit bigger, my butt is a little bit bigger. We do a lot of squats.”

To counter the effects of microgravity, Williams and her fellow astronaut Barry Wilmore engage in a rigorous exercise routine that includes calisthenics, treadmill sessions, and weightlifting. They also focus on maintaining a healthy diet, with Williams adding olives, rice, and fish stew to her meals.

Williams and Wilmore are expected to remain on the ISS until February 2025 when a rescue mission is scheduled to bring them back to Earth. The delay is due to safety concerns regarding the Boeing Starliner spacecraft, which was originally intended to return them home.

“We’re waiting for a rescue team to bring us back to Earth,” Williams said. “But we’re staying busy and taking good care of ourselves. Everything’s going according to plan, and we’re looking forward to returning home.”
