**Chennai, November 15, 2024:** A 45-day-old baby boy was kidnapped from his mother in T. Nagar, Chennai on Thursday, sparking a frantic search by authorities.
The incident occurred when the baby’s mother, Nishanthi, was approached by an unknown woman who offered free nutritional supplements for her child. Believing the woman, Nishanthi accompanied her in an auto-rickshaw, carrying her baby. As they reached T. Nagar, the woman asked Nishanthi to hand over the baby, claiming to be collecting the supplements from a nearby house. However, the woman did not return with the baby for over half an hour, prompting Nishanthi to panic.
She immediately rushed to the Mambalam police station and filed a complaint. The case was then transferred to the Kannagi Nagar police, who have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident.
Nishanthi and her husband, Arogya Das, were married for 12 years and residing in the Kannagi Nagar tenements. The baby was their first child. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
