Thu Nov 14 09:38:04 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka Minister Slams Yogi Adityanath for Using Father’s Tragedy for Political Gains

Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for using his father, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s, past tragedy for political gains. Adityanath had brought up the 1948 incident where Kharge’s village was burnt down by the Razakars, a pro-Nizam militia, during the integration of Hyderabad into India.

In a sharp rebuke, Priyank Kharge clarified that the act was committed by the Razakars and not the entire Muslim community. “Every community has bad apples and individuals who do wrong,” he tweeted, adding that his father never exploited this tragedy for political gain and instead rose to become a prominent political figure.

Adityanath had used the tragedy to criticize Kharge’s “batenge toh katenge” slogan, suggesting that it would lead to similar violence against Hindus. He also accused Kharge of being hesitant to acknowledge the truth for fear of losing Muslim votes.

However, Priyank Kharge countered that his father, despite losing his mother, sister, and other family members in the fire, never played the victim card or allowed hatred to define him. He also criticized Adityanath’s divisive rhetoric, stating that his ideology “fails to see Mallikarjun Kharge as an equal.”

“Who labelled him as an ‘untouchable’ or a Dalit?” Priyank asked, highlighting Adityanath’s discriminatory attitude. He urged the BJP leader to focus on the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead of sowing seeds of hatred for political gains.
