Thu Nov 14 13:58:14 UTC 2024: ## Rain-Shortened Thriller: Australia Dominates Pakistan in First T20

Brisbane, Australia – In a rain-affected first T20 match of the series, Australia emerged victorious over Pakistan, winning by a convincing 29-run margin. The match, reduced to a seven-over-a-side affair due to persistent rain, saw Australia post a challenging 93/4 in their allotted overs. Pakistan, in pursuit of 94 for victory, struggled to keep pace, eventually finishing on 64/9.

Glenn Maxwell was the star for Australia, smashing 43 runs off just 19 balls. He was well supported by Marcus Stoinis who remained unbeaten on 21 off just seven deliveries. Nathan Ellis, with his impressive figures of 3/9, proved to be the difference-maker, dismantling Pakistan’s batting order.

The chase began poorly for Pakistan as they lost early wickets, including their captain Mohammad Rizwan for a duck. Only Abbas Afridi (20 not out) offered some resistance.

The victory gives Australia a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The second T20 is scheduled for Saturday in Canberra.
