**Beirut, Lebanon** – The Israeli military launched a series of airstrikes targeting areas south of Beirut, Lebanon, on Thursday, claiming the attacks were aimed at Hezbollah strongholds. The strikes, which followed forced evacuation orders issued by the Israeli military, have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians and the displacement of tens of thousands.

The latest attacks targeted the Ghobeiry area, which had been placed under evacuation orders, and the Choueifat el-Aamroussieh area. Thick plumes of grey smoke were seen rising over the area after the strikes.

Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic language spokesman, published details of the evacuation orders, highlighting buildings deemed “Hezbollah infrastructure” on a map. The Israeli military has been criticized for issuing these orders with little warning, often giving residents just minutes to flee before launching airstrikes.

According to the state-run National News Agency (NNA), the Israeli military also conducted heavy bombardment in the southern town of Bint Jbeil, destroying several apartment blocks just three kilometers from the Israeli border.

The Israeli strikes come amid ongoing conflict in the region, with the war in Gaza intensifying since last October. Since the beginning of the conflict, at least 3,365 people have been killed and 14,344 wounded in Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

The escalating situation has led to a mass exodus of civilians from south Beirut, although some have returned to assess the damage to their homes and businesses. The increasing number of airstrikes and the heavy casualties have raised concerns about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region.
