Tue Nov 12 12:09:05 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan’s Champions Trophy Hosting in Jeopardy as BCCI Refuses to Travel

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has dealt a major blow to Pakistan’s hopes of hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy, refusing to send the Indian team to the neighboring country. This follows a recent report by Sports Tak that the tournament could be moved entirely from Pakistan if the country does not comply with the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s demands.

The ICC has reportedly requested Pakistan to adopt a “hybrid” model for the event, similar to last year’s Asia Cup, with India’s matches taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). If Pakistan rejects this proposal, they risk losing hosting rights altogether, and South Africa could be chosen as the alternative venue.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has publicly dismissed the possibility of a hybrid model, stating that no discussions regarding it have taken place. He has also asserted that the Pakistani government will decide on future participation in events held in India, should the BCCI fail to send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.

This development signifies a deepening rift between the two cricketing giants, further jeopardizing future bilateral series. The PCB’s refusal to budge on the hybrid model, coupled with the BCCI’s firm stance against traveling to Pakistan, casts a shadow over the future of the Champions Trophy, leaving its fate hanging in the balance.
