Mon Nov 11 08:52:48 UTC 2024: ## Former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna’s Bail Plea Rejected by Supreme Court

**New Delhi, November 11, 2024:** The Supreme Court today dismissed a bail plea filed by suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing charges of rape and sexual assault.

The bench, comprising Justices Bela M. Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, rejected the plea citing Mr. Revanna’s influential status and the seriousness of the charges against him.

The court upheld the October 21 decision of the Karnataka High Court, which had also denied bail to the former MP.

The charges stem from a 2,144-page charge sheet filed by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in August, which investigated four cases of sexual assault and harassment against Mr. Revanna. One of the cases involves allegations of rape against a woman who worked as a domestic help for his family.

Mr. Revanna, son of Holenarasipura JD(S) MLA H.D. Revanna and grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, is currently facing two rape cases and one sexual assault case.
