**Mumbai, India:** Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar’s son, Aryan Bangar, has undergone a gender transition and is now embracing a new identity as Anaya Bangar. The young athlete, who had been pursuing a professional cricket career, has openly shared her journey on social media, detailing the challenges she faced and the transformative experience of accepting her true self.

Anaya revealed her transition on Instagram, disclosing that she has undergone surgery and is currently navigating the effects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). She expressed that while she always faced difficulties in her pursuit of a professional cricket career, the journey of self-discovery and accepting her true identity proved to be even more challenging.

“My journey as a cricketer was always full of challenges,” Anaya wrote, “But beyond cricket, there was another journey – accepting my true identity. It was tough, as I had to make difficult decisions to understand myself and embrace who I really am.”

Anaya, who is currently 11 months post-surgery, highlighted the difficulty of leaving behind the comfort of fitting in and standing up for herself. “It was a hard thing to do, to give up the comfort of fitting in and stand up for myself, but I did it,” she said.

Her father, Sanjay Bangar, a renowned cricketer who served as India’s batting coach from 2014 to 2018, has expressed his support for his child’s journey. He has previously represented India in 12 Test matches and 15 ODIs.
