Mon Nov 11 12:01:50 UTC 2024: ## Coimbatore: Millions Spent on Unused Library and Bus Stand
**Coimbatore, November 11, 2024:** A ₹1 lakh library, inaugurated in 2005, and a ₹1.78 crore bus stand, inaugurated in 2015, both lie abandoned at Kodangipalayam on the Coimbatore-Tiruppur border.
The library, inaugurated by former Minister S.M. Velusamy, remains closed most of the time. Villagers suggest relocating it to Carltonpet four road junction to encourage reading.
Despite the bus stand boasting facilities like a shopping complex, drinking water, parking lot and crew retiring rooms, it was only used on its inauguration day by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa via video conferencing. Since then, no buses have entered the stand, which is reportedly becoming a haven for anti-social elements.
This shocking neglect of public infrastructure raises questions about the planning and implementation of these projects. It is a stark reminder of the wastage of public funds and the need for better accountability and utilization of resources.
