**Vadodara, India** – A fire erupted at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC)’s Gujarat Refinery in Koyali, Vadodara, around 3:30 PM today, according to police. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported.

The fire originated in a Benzene Storage Tank, with a capacity of 1000 kiloliters, the IOC confirmed in a statement. The refinery’s emergency response team has been deployed, with firefighting efforts ongoing.

The incident triggered the activation of the adjacent water sprinkler system to contain the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

“The safety of our employees and surrounding communities is our top priority,” stated the company. “Refinery operations are currently normal.”

The Koyali refinery, established in 1962, processes crude oil into essential petroleum products including petrol, diesel, LPG, kerosene, and aviation fuel. With an annual crude oil processing capacity of 13.7 million tonnes, it supplies primarily to Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and parts of Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

The refinery is undergoing expansion, including the establishment of a petrochemical complex, slated for commissioning in 2024-25. Additionally, the Gujarat Refinery Oxo Alcohol project, aiming for a Butyl Acrylate production capacity of 150 KTPA, is anticipated to be operational in the same fiscal year.
