**Tiruchi, November 11, 2024:** The Tamil Nadu Thaiyil Thozhilalar Munnetra Sangam, an organization representing tailors in the Tiruchi district, held a protest near the Collector’s office on Monday. Their demands include easier registration for the Tamil Nadu Worker’s Welfare Board pension, a raise in the pension amount to ₹5,000, and the expedited issuance of house site pattas for those registered with the Board.

The protesters, who have been advocating for these measures for the past five years, claim their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. “We are staging this protest to bring attention to the plight of tailors and urge the government to provide us with the necessary assistance,” stated A. Shakeel Ahmed, State secretary of the Tamil Nadu Thaiyil Thozhilalar Munnetra Sangam.

The protest highlights the ongoing struggles of tailors in the district, who are seeking better welfare benefits and recognition of their contributions to the workforce.
