Sun Nov 10 00:04:19 UTC 2024: ## Israeli Protesters Demand Action as Qatar Suspends Mediation Efforts in Hostage Crisis

**Tel Aviv, Israel** – Thousands of Israelis rallied in Tel Aviv on Saturday, expressing growing frustration and concern over the ongoing hostage crisis in Gaza. The protest comes after Qatar announced it was suspending its role as a key mediator in ceasefire talks, citing a lack of seriousness from both sides.

The protesters, holding signs reading “400,” marked the number of days since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which saw the capture of over 250 Israelis. Currently, 97 hostages remain in Gaza, including 34 the Israeli military believes to be deceased.

“This is further proof for me that there really is no seriousness, and these deals are being sabotaged,” said Ruti Lior, a psychotherapist and protester, expressing her deep concern over Qatar’s decision to step back from negotiations.

While some demonstrators expressed disappointment in Qatar’s mediation efforts, many also placed blame on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, evident in the protest’s installation of masks representing Netanyahu and signs reading “Guilty.”

“How many more tears must fall and how much more blood must be shed before someone does what needs to be done and brings our children home?” questioned Niva Wenkert, mother of hostage Omer Wenkert, in a statement released by the Hostage and Missing Families Forum.

The ongoing conflict, sparked by Hamas’s October attack, has resulted in over 1,206 deaths in Israel and a staggering 43,552 in Gaza, according to official figures and reports from the Hamas-run territory’s health ministry.

Despite repeated attempts by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to broker a truce, the conflict remains deadlocked. The protest in Tel Aviv serves as a powerful reminder of the escalating human cost of the war and the desperate plea of families for the safe return of their loved ones.
