**QUERETARO, MEXICO** – A shocking attack on a bar in the heart of Queretaro, Mexico, left 10 people dead and at least 7 injured on Saturday.
According to Juan Luis Ferrusca, head of Queretaro’s public security department, four gunmen arrived at the Los Cantaritos bar in the historic district aboard a pickup truck, opening fire inside. Emergency services confirmed the attack, reporting 10 fatalities and multiple injuries.
One suspect has been detained and the truck used in the attack was later found abandoned and set on fire.
Queretaro is generally considered one of the safer cities in Mexico, which has been struggling with spiraling violence largely attributed to drug trafficking and gangs. Since 2006, over 450,000 people have been murdered in the country.
