Sun Nov 10 03:52:45 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates South Africa in T20I Series Opener

**Durban, South Africa:** Team India made a resounding statement in the first T20I against South Africa, securing a dominant 61-run victory at Kingsmead. Sanju Samson’s second consecutive T20I century, coupled with a devastating spin attack, proved too much for the hosts.

India, batting first, lost Abhishek Sharma early but captain KL Rahul anchored the innings while Samson unleashed a blistering assault. The duo amassed a 66-run stand for the second wicket before Rahul fell for 21. Tilak Varma joined the party, smashing 33 off just 18 balls, adding further momentum to India’s innings.

Samson continued his rampage, bringing up his century and becoming the first Indian to achieve this feat in back-to-back T20Is. Despite a late collapse, India reached a formidable 202/8, with Samson leading the charge with 107 runs.

South Africa’s chase began disastrously as Aiden Markram was dismissed early for just eight runs. While Rya Rickleton (21) and Tristan Stubbs (11) tried to steady the ship, it was a futile effort. Varun Chakravarthy, India’s mystery spinner, struck twice in two balls, removing the experienced duo of Heinrich Klaasen (25) and David Miller (18), effectively dismantling the South African middle order.

Ravi Bishnoi joined the party, claiming wickets with his leg spin, while Gerald Coetzee (23) offered some resistance for the hosts. However, India’s bowlers remained relentless, eventually bowling out South Africa for 141 with more than two overs to spare.

Bishnoi and Chakravarthy were the stars with six wickets between them, while Samson was awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding century. This convincing victory sets the tone for the series, leaving South Africa with a mountain to climb if they are to claw their way back.
