Fri Nov 08 16:23:46 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Denies Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy 2025, Insists India Will Play in Pakistan
**LAHORE, PAKISTAN** – Amidst reports suggesting a “hybrid model” for the Champions Trophy 2025, with India playing their matches in Dubai, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has categorically denied receiving any official communication from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan.
Naqvi, speaking at a press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium, stated that the PCB is not discussing any hybrid model and remains committed to hosting the tournament in Pakistan as scheduled. “Till today, no one has discussed any ‘Hybrid Model’ with us nor are we willing to talk about it,” Naqvi asserted.
He further added that the PCB has been accommodating towards other boards in the past, but will not continue to do so indefinitely. “We have been showing good gestures for the last few years and no one should expect us to do it all the time,” Naqvi said.
While acknowledging that talks are ongoing with other boards regarding the tournament, Naqvi emphasized that all teams are expected to play in Pakistan. He stated that the PCB will only consider any proposal regarding India’s participation if it is received in writing and will then consult the government for a final decision.
The last time India toured Pakistan was in 2008 for the Asia Cup. Following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the Indian team has not visited Pakistan, citing security concerns.
The ICC has consistently maintained that it will not intervene in a country’s government policy regarding international sports tours. With Jay Shah, the outgoing BCCI secretary, set to assume the ICC presidency on December 1st, the upcoming months will be crucial in determining the fate of India’s participation in the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
