**CHENNAI, INDIA – November 9, 2024:** The Election Commission of India has appointed IAS officer Archana Patnaik as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, replacing incumbent Satyabrata Sahoo.
Ms. Patnaik, currently serving as the Secretary of the MSME Department, will assume her new role immediately. She will relinquish all her current responsibilities under the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Sahoo has been reassigned as the Secretary of the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Department.
This change in leadership comes as the Election Commission prepares for future electoral events in the state.
