Fri Nov 08 18:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Arsenal Women’s Coach Search Continues as Edu Departs

**London, England** – The search for a new head coach for Arsenal Women continues after the departure of Sporting Director Edu Gaspar. While speculation has linked New York City FC Head Coach Nick Cushing to the position, sources indicate that Cushing will remain in the US.

Edu, who played a significant role in the women’s team’s development following his promotion to Sporting Director last year, has left the club for a new opportunity. Interim Head Coach Renee Slegers, who stepped in following Jonas Eidevall’s departure, acknowledged Edu’s impact but emphasized the strength of Arsenal’s organizational structure.

“He has meant a lot to the women’s team, a lot for the club,” Slegers said. “But the structure we have in place here is very strong, it is not dependent on one person.”

Slegers also confirmed that Edu’s departure will not impact the ongoing coach search process, which is being overseen by a technical committee. While she expressed a desire to remain on the coaching staff, the final decision will rest with the new head coach.

Meanwhile, Slegers praised the attacking performance of the team in their recent match against Manchester United, particularly Alessia Russo, who impressed with eight shots and a goal against her former club. Slegers attributed the improvement to a collective effort, stating that the team’s strong performance allowed individual players to flourish.

The search for a new head coach continues, and it remains to be seen who will ultimately lead Arsenal Women into the upcoming season.
