**Mangaluru, November 7, 2024:** Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital in Udupi has been awarded a special recognition by the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network for its commitment to sustainable healthcare practices.
The award was presented to Hospital Director Sushil Jathanna at the International Scientific Conference on Climate Change and Health and the sixth Asia-Pacific Green Healthcare System Conference held in Hai Phong, Vietnam, from October 30 to November 1.
The conference, hosted by several organizations including the Ministry of Health in Vietnam, brought together healthcare professionals, climate advocates, and stakeholders to discuss and promote sustainable healthcare practices across Asia.
Dr. Jathanna expressed his pride in receiving the award, stating that it serves as a source of inspiration as Lombard Hospital continues its mission of providing environmentally-friendly and sustainable healthcare in coastal Karnataka.
In 2024, the hospital, founded in 1923 by Swiss missionary Eva Lombard, launched its ambitious project “INSPIRE” to address environmental challenges. The project focuses on key areas like renewable energy, water management, waste reduction, air quality improvement, biodiversity promotion, and public awareness.
This international recognition highlights the hospital’s commitment to sustainability and its role as a leader in promoting eco-conscious healthcare practices in the region.
