Thu Nov 07 03:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Pixxel Unveils Fireflies: World’s Highest Resolution Hyperspectral Satellite Constellation

**Bengaluru, India** – Bengaluru-based space startup Pixxel has unveiled its flagship commercial satellites, dubbed “Fireflies.” This constellation of six next-generation hyperspectral satellites is poised to offer unprecedented precision in Earth observation with a native resolution of five meters, over 150 spectral bands, and a 40-kilometer wide swath.

The Fireflies will provide crucial data for various applications, including early detection of crop diseases, identification of water stress, real-time monitoring of deforestation, and tracking ocean pollution. Pixxel emphasizes the constellation’s potential as a powerful tool in combating climate change, enhancing food security, and supporting sustainable resource management.

“The Fireflies constellation will deliver critical data across various applications,” said Pixxel in a statement. “With its unparalleled imaging capabilities, Fireflies is positioned to become an invaluable tool in the fight against climate change, enhancing food security and supporting sustainable resource management.”

Awais Ahmed, CEO and Founder of Pixxel, highlighted the significance of this milestone in the company’s mission. “This constellation marks a major milestone in Pixxel’s mission to make detailed and actionable insights about the planet accessible to all. Fireflies is built to capture the world in ways we’ve never seen before, giving us the clarity and detail needed to make impactful decisions for a better future.”

Pixxel plans to expand the Fireflies constellation to 24 satellites, further increasing the accessibility of hyperspectral data. This, they believe, will drive data-informed decision-making for a more sustainable future.
