Tue Nov 05 05:20:56 UTC 2024: ## Cracks in Jagannath Temple Wall Prompt Urgent Repair Efforts

**Puri, Odisha (November 5, 2024)** – Concerns have arisen regarding the structural integrity of the historic Shree Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha. The temple administration has requested the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the custodian of the shrine, to conduct a scientific survey of the 12th-century temple’s boundary wall due to the presence of cracks.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator, Arabinda Padhee, has written to the ASI highlighting the issue and urging immediate repair and restoration of the ‘Meghanad Pacheri’ (boundary wall). The SJTA has already taken steps to prevent water leakage on the wall and initiated a tender process to improve the drainage system in Anand Bazaar, a section within the temple.

Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan assured the public that the matter is of high priority and repair work will begin immediately to prevent further damage. He attributed the issue to past mistakes in construction work around the temple complex, hinting at previous projects undertaken by the BJD government.

The ASI has pledged its full support to the temple administration in carrying out the repair work, ensuring the preservation of this sacred and historic site.
