Mon Nov 04 07:10:16 UTC 2024: ## Kerala Government to Investigate WhatsApp Group for Hindu IAS Officers

**Thiruvananthapuram/New Delhi, November 4, 2024:** The Kerala government has announced an investigation into the formation of a WhatsApp group exclusively for Hindu IAS officers, following a complaint filed by an officer who claims his personal WhatsApp number was hacked and used to create the group.

State Industries Minister P. Rajeeve described the incident as “serious,” stating that community-based divisions are highly concerning. “The government will look into this matter,” he told reporters in New Delhi. “There is a general code of conduct for IAS officers, which falls under the Public Administration department. We are currently examining the situation. Let’s review and determine what needs to be done.”

The controversy arose after an IAS officer reported to the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner that his personal WhatsApp number had been hacked and used to create the group. The officer, who was added to the group without his consent, claimed he had not added any other officers to the group.

The group, initially labeled as a Hindu community group, included officers from various religious backgrounds. The officer immediately dismantled the group upon noticing the issue and filed a complaint with the police.

The incident, which occurred three days ago, has sparked concerns about potential bias and discrimination within the IAS community. The Kerala government’s investigation is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the group’s formation and potential breaches of the code of conduct for IAS officers.
