Sat Nov 02 14:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Snowstorm to Blanket 10 States: Winter Weather Advisories Issued

**Indianapolis, IN** – A pair of winter storms are bringing snow to 10 states across the country, with some areas expecting their first snowfall of the season. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter weather advisories for Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Minnesota, Michigan, Montana, Wisconsin, and Nevada.

The first storm system is moving across the upper Midwest, bringing 2-4 inches of snow to central Minnesota, parts of northern Wisconsin, and the Michigan Upper Peninsula. Minneapolis and St. Paul may also see minor snowfall.

The second system, in the Pacific Northwest, is a series of smaller storms bringing a stream of moisture to the region. The Cascades are expected to see the heaviest snowfall, with up to 3 feet of snow in higher elevations. Winter weather advisories also extend into the northern Sierra Nevada mountains in California and parts of the northern Rocky Mountains.

The snow is expected to be a multi-day event, with snowfall rates increasing Thursday night into Friday. The NWS warns of hazardous travel conditions, including snow-covered roads, chain controls, and travel delays.

In addition to snow, gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Some areas are expected to see periods of heavier snowfall, including Washington and California.

Meteorologists advise residents to keep a winter emergency driving kit accessible in their car, equipped with a flashlight, batteries, blankets, a shovel, water, non-perishable food items, and tire chains.

While the snow is impacting the northern states, other areas are experiencing chilly temperatures. Freeze warnings and frost advisories are in place for parts of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and northern Texas.
