Sat Nov 02 11:23:50 UTC 2024: ## Sarfaraz Khan’s Dismissal Leaves Family Stunned as India Edges Ahead Against New Zealand
Mumbai, India: Sarfaraz Khan’s disappointing dismissal on the second day of the third and final Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium left his family visibly stunned. Cameras captured the reactions of his father, Naushad, and brother, Musheer, as the right-hander perished without scoring.
Sarfaraz, coming in at number eight, was clean bowled by Ajaz Patel on a delivery that took an extra bounce. Despite his attempt to defend, the ball found the edge and flew into the safe hands of wicketkeeper Tom Blundell.
Despite this early setback, Team India managed to salvage a 28-run lead thanks to a crucial 96-run stand between Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant.
The day began with India under pressure at 86/4. However, Gill and Pant displayed aggression and reached their respective half-centuries. Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi eventually broke the partnership by trapping Pant lbw for 60.
Gill missed out on a deserved century, falling for 90 just before lunch. Washington Sundar then provided some crucial late hitting, allowing India to surpass New Zealand’s first innings total of 235.
On day one, half-centuries from Will Young and Daryl Mitchell propelled the Kiwis to 235, while Ravindra Jadeja took a five-wicket haul for India. Despite a strong start at 78-1, India lost three quick wickets to end the day at 84/4, including a chaotic run-out of captain Virat Kohli.
The match continues with India looking to build on their slight advantage and secure a series victory.
