**Riyadh, Saudi Arabia** – Cristiano Ronaldo’s reign at Al Nassr continues to be trophy-less after the club was eliminated from the Saudi King’s Cup on Tuesday. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner missed a penalty in second-half stoppage time, allowing mid-table Al Taawoun to secure a 1-0 victory.

Waleed Al-Ahmed scored the only goal of the match in the 71st minute, sending Al Nassr crashing out in the round-of-16. The Portuguese superstar, known for his penalty prowess, shockingly skied his attempt over the bar, marking his first ever missed penalty since joining the Saudi Pro League.

This defeat marks the first for new Al Nassr head coach Stefano Pioli, who took over from Luis Castro in September. “Technically we performed well, but we couldn’t win the game,” Pioli said. “We feel disappointed to be out of the cup, but we still have two trophies to go for and we will give our best in them.”

Al Nassr still has a chance at silverware in the Saudi Pro League and the Asian Champions League. However, they currently trail league leaders Al-Hilal by six points and have a record of seven points from three matches in the group stage of the Asian Champions League.
