Wed Oct 30 02:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Warriors Unfazed by Missing Out on Markkanen, Focused on Current Roster

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green revealed that the team was in talks to acquire both Lauri Markkanen and Paul George this past offseason, but the deals ultimately fell through. While Green acknowledged the potential impact of adding Markkanen, he expressed no regret about the missed opportunity, stating that the team has never seen him play and therefore couldn’t speculate on his fit.

The Warriors’ pursuit of George was thwarted by the Los Angeles Clippers’ reluctance to engage in a sign-and-trade, paving the way for George to join the Philadelphia 76ers. Markkanen subsequently signed an extension with the Utah Jazz, making him ineligible for a trade until next summer.

Despite the missed opportunities, Green and the Warriors are focused on their current roster, which boasts a deep and talented group. While the team recognizes the potential benefits of a consolidation trade to bolster their veteran presence, they are eager to prove their capabilities with their existing lineup.

“We have 12 players who are good enough to contribute,” Green emphasized. “We’re going to show how good we are before making any drastic moves.”

General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. will likely explore trade options as the season progresses, but for now, the Warriors are determined to demonstrate their potential and make a strong run in the upcoming season.
