Wed Oct 30 10:02:02 UTC 2024: ## Kohli Blocked Maxwell on Instagram After Aussie’s Taunt During Test Match: Maxwell’s Book Revelations
**Bangalore:** Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has revealed in his new book “The Showman” that Indian batting legend Virat Kohli blocked him on Instagram after a playful taunt during a Test match in 2017.
Maxwell, who now enjoys a close friendship with Kohli, recounted the incident in his autobiography, where he discussed how the RCB skipper extended his support during his transition to the Bengaluru franchise.
The incident happened during the 2017 Border-Gavaskar series in Ranchi. Kohli sustained an injury while fielding on the first day of the Test, and Maxwell is said to have made a light-hearted comment about it.
“When I joined RCB, Virat was the first one to welcome me. We discussed a lot during the training session before the IPL season. I followed him on Instagram during that time and didn’t really pay attention to whether he was following me back. But I couldn’t find any of his posts on social media, and I didn’t understand why. One person pointed out that Virat might have blocked me. Later, I found out that he had blocked me because I had taunted him during the Australia tour of India,” Maxwell wrote in his book.
Maxwell went on to say that he confronted Kohli about the block during a later encounter, and Kohli confirmed the reason, prompting a light-hearted exchange between the two.
“I went up to him one day and asked him if he had blocked me on Instagram. Virat replied, ‘Yes, because you taunted me in the Test match’. To which I responded, ‘Yeah, you did the right thing, I shouldn’t have done that,'” Maxwell recounted.
Kohli subsequently unblocked Maxwell, and their friendship bloomed, which has continued to this day.
