Kochi, October 30: The Malayalam film industry is mourning the sudden and unexpected loss of renowned film editor Nishadh Yusuf, who was found dead in his apartment in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi, in the early hours of Wednesday. He was 43.

The cause of death remains unknown, and police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Yusuf, a native of Harippad, was widely recognized for his significant contribution to contemporary Malayalam cinema. He had worked on several critically acclaimed films including “Thallumaala,” “Unda,” “One,” “Saudi Vellakka,” and “Adios Amigos,” among others.

He was also a key figure in the upcoming release of “Kanguva,” a big-budget film starring Suriya and directed by Siruthai Siva, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 14th.

In 2022, Yusuf received the Kerala State Award for Best Editor for his exceptional work on “Thallumaala.” He is survived by his wife and two children.

The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Directors’ Union expressed deep sorrow at Yusuf’s untimely demise, stating, “The unexpected demise of Nishadh Yusuf, film editor, who played a major role in determining the contemporary future of the changing Malayalam cinema is not something the film world will be able to quickly accept.”

The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the Malayalam and Tamil film industries, leaving his colleagues and admirers in deep grief.
