Wed Oct 30 00:20:42 UTC 2024: ## Kerala Honors Olympic Hockey Star P.R. Sreejesh with Grand Reception
**Thiruvananthapuram:** The Kerala government will be hosting a grand reception for P.R. Sreejesh, the Indian hockey star who brought pride to the nation at the Paris Olympics. The event will be held at the Jimmy George Indoor Stadium in Vellayambalam on Wednesday evening at 4 pm, and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Sreejesh, who played a crucial role in India’s impressive performance at the Olympics, will be awarded a prize money of Rs. 2 crore. The function will be presided over by Minister V. Abdurahman. Several prominent figures from the sports arena including ministers, elected representatives, and international athletes will attend the event.
In addition to the felicitation, the government will also be handing over appointment letters to five Asian Games medalists, P.U. Chitra, Muhammed Anas, V.K. Vismaya, V. Neena, and Kunju Muhammed, who will be appointed as Assistant Sports Organizers in the General Education department.
The reception will also recognize other prominent sports personalities who participated in the Paris Olympics: Radhakrishnan Nair (Athletics Chief Coach), Muhammed Anas (4×400), Muhammed Ajmal (4×400), Abdullah Aboobacker (Triple Jump), and HS Prannoy (Badminton).
