Tue Oct 29 06:20:52 UTC 2024: ## Lakers Rally Past Suns for First 2-0 Start in 12 Years

**LOS ANGELES** – The Los Angeles Lakers overcame a 22-point deficit to defeat the Phoenix Suns 123-116 on Friday night, securing their first 2-0 start to a season since 2010-11.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 35 points, while Austin Reaves added 26, including five three-pointers. LeBron James contributed 21 points, 17 of which came in the second half.

The Suns, led by Kevin Durant’s 30 points and Devin Booker’s 23, dominated the first half, shooting a scorching 24 of 39 from the field. However, the Lakers fought back in the third quarter, outscoring Phoenix 35-24, with Davis and James combining for 22 points in the period.

The Lakers extended their lead to 12 points in the fourth quarter, thanks in part to a 20-6 run that stretched from late in the third quarter into the fourth. The Lakers also capitalized on a significant drop in shooting efficiency from the Suns, who made only 9 of 27 shots in the third quarter after a hot start.

Los Angeles’ victory marks the first time a Lakers coach has won their first two games since Phil Jackson in 1999. The Lakers will look to continue their momentum against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night.

The Suns, meanwhile, will face the Dallas Mavericks in their home opener.
