**New Delhi, October 22, 2024:** President Droupadi Murmu today received Singapore’s Defence Minister, Dr Ng Eng Hen, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, highlighting the burgeoning strategic partnership between the two nations.
President Murmu lauded the “rich history of bilateral cooperation” between India and Singapore, further strengthened by Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to Singapore and the successful conclusion of the second India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable meeting. She expressed satisfaction at the elevation of the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Congratulating Singapore for co-hosting the inaugural ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise, the President conveyed her best wishes to the armed forces of both nations for the upcoming series of joint exercises.
Emphasizing the need for enhanced collaboration in defence research and development, President Murmu stressed the importance of leveraging the latest expertise and technological advancements in the field. She expressed her belief that closer cooperation between the defence R&D teams of India and Singapore would be mutually beneficial.
