**Mumbai:** The Mumbai police have launched an investigation into allegations of unauthorized religious activities conducted at the prestigious Khar Gymkhana club. On October 24, police officers visited the club, collected documents related to religious events held on the premises, and attempted to contact Gymkhana board members.
The investigation follows accusations against Ivan Rodrigues, father of Indian cricket star Jemimah Rodrigues, for conducting unauthorized religious activities. Several club members raised objections to his actions, leading to the revocation of Jemimah’s honorary three-year membership, which she received in March 2023.
The police obtained photocopies of documents from Gymkhana administrative members and attempted to speak to the president and other board members, but they were unavailable. The police recorded the names and contact details of the members present at the time.
The Khar Gymkhana president, Devnani, confirmed the cancellation of Jemimah’s membership, stating that there was no evidence to support the claims against Ivan Rodrigues. Jemimah Rodrigues and her father have yet to respond to the allegations.
The Mumbai police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
